The ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE is recognized as one of the most effective ways to change negative habitual patterns of movement, posture, and function. It is a technique that teaches us to use our bodies with greater awareness (through the mind) and gentle, hands-on guidance, connecting us to our bodies' natural intelligence. Over time, we learn how to inhibit or 'Not Do' habitual patterns of unconscious movement that have been causing dysfunction to manifest as pain in our bodies. This unique process of self-management, where we can simply and effectively modify our very own muscular responses to stress, pain, and discomfort and actually carry out better use of ourselves at will, begins in the mind but shows up as greater consciousness in the body's daily movement.
